My wife is away for a couple of weeks, I am in charge of the house for the first time in 25 years. # LAUNDRY She separates clothers in 3 buckets, white, black/dark, mix (green, red etc), inspects each item for stains, applied stain remover, then run the laundry machine, then the dryer for each class of clothes. And after the dryer clothes have to hand dry as well because they are not dry enough. Every day she did laundry. And the stupid laundry machine is next to my office, I hear nonstop "click bang click bing" from the zippers hitting the drum. I saw toil everywhere! I reduced it to 2 classess, light and dark. No stain remover, if stain stays it is God's will, I run one laundry machine with dark, put in dryer, in parallel start second laundry machine with light, once done, stop dryer, put the new clothes in and start it again for full cycle. Clothes come completely dry and clean, I just put them in the shelve, no folding, both me and my daughter have great vision and can pick what we want from the pile. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes of work and can be done once every 7 days. If you run out of clothes use pijamas. Saves water, electricity, polution. # DISHES I dont unload dishes from the dishwasher, just pile up the dishes in the sink, after rincing, until every single dish is used from the current dishwasher, then fill it up again. If you run out of dishes, use the cups as dishes, if you run out of forks use the spoons. Last resort you can use cooking paper as dishes (for solid food). Ideally you should have 2 dishwashers, clean and not clean, but its too expensive and takes lots of space. # FOOD I think this one is fun, no need to optimize. # CLEANING :( Not fun at all I think this needs complete reorganization of the house to be robot cleaning friendly, I dont have a roomba, but even if I do, the furniture wont allow it to go to clean like 50% of the room. Doors have to be changed, chairs and tables as well. Next time we move this will be my top thing to look for. --- The point is, you cant optimize anything unless you understand what the problem is, and for that, you need to accumulate some scar tissue.
